October 5, 2009 – Hann Builders was recently honored with two “Houston’s Best” awards by the Greater Houston Builders Association’s (GHBA) Sales & Marketing Council. The builder received “Houston’s Best Custom Home Design” for a project ranging from $800,000-$1.2 million, and “Houston’s Best Remodeled Kitchen” in the under $100,000 category.
The custom home, a 5,626 square foot Spanish Hacienda, was inspired by the owner’s travels in Spain, and largely brought to life through her personal involvement in the design process, and in locating the authentic architectural details. The design features a spiral staircase, dark stained wood treatments and a vestibule archway adorned with Cantera stone. Visitors are first welcomed into the courtyard by a graceful fountain, and later by a carved stone and wrought iron entry revealing a pair of arched mahogany doors.
The “Best remodeled kitchen,” fashioned around a work triangle, features an island cook-top equipped with a stainless steel vent hood. Stainless steel appliances and satin nickel hardware compliment the granite counters and refinished cabinetry. To complete the design, an under-counter wine chiller and serving bar were added.
“It’s really rewarding to be recognized this way,” said Stephen Hann, president of Hann Builders. “It’s a great feeling to have your clients happy with the job you’ve done, but then to have your peers recognize it too is even more heartening.”
Lisa Clark, president of the GHBA noted “The home building industry in Houston is loaded with some of the most talented people in the business,” and “the depth of this talent is reflected in the variety of entries that the Sales & Marketing Council received from 2009.” She added “We were thrilled to announce the winners at the House of Blues event and congratulate every one of them for representing the best in the industry.”
The GHBA’s prestigious “Houston’s Best” awards (formally named the PRISM awards) recognize excellence and superior achievement in the home building industry in the categories of People, Products and Promotion. The awards are chosen from entries submitted by members of the GHBA and are judged anonymously by a panel of industry professionals. This year’s judging panel included a seven member team with representatives from both regional and national areas of the industry. The judges traveled to Houston where they spent two days touring the entries. The top three highest scoring entries in each category were designated “finalists,” and the highest scoring entry awarded the title of “Houston’s Best.”
